Whether it’s at the drafting table, the dinner table, the office or the happy hour down the street, we like to think big, have fun and build relationships that shine as brightly as the spaces we create.

Collaborating and having fun are two vital parts of our culture at Generator Studio.

Generator Studio is a full-service architecture and interior design firm that calls Kansas City home. We specialize in high-end residential, hospitality, not-for-profit, corporate office and sports venues.

Our Power Players

Meet the Team

  • Project Manager, Interiors Alison Gordon
    Project Manager, Interiors Alison Gordon

Alison has a border collie/russell terrier mix named Finley.

Alison discovered her passion for interior design at a young age while sketching her dream barn with horseback riding friends. Realizing she could make a career designing spaces, Alison took drafting classes in high school, which ultimately led to her earning her Master’s in Interior Architect & Product Design from Kansas State University in 2019. She spent her early career designing interiors for education projects, learning that improving the lives of the end-users is the ultimate goal of architecture.

Alison believes that architecture must have a purpose. Understanding how people think and the purpose of a space is the foundation of her design philosophy. She prides herself in facilitating an environment where teammates and clients are comfortable and confident sharing their thoughts and opinions, ensuring all ideas are heard.

  • Director of Architecture + Partner Andrew Kesel
Director of Architecture + Partner Andrew Kesel

Andrew was selected out of the crowd at a Drury University basketball game to shoot a half-court shot… and made it.

Andrew brings a unique perspective and experienced background to every project he leads. His versatility allows him to seamlessly transition from big thinking to detailed project exploration to serve different clients’ needs. Andrew is a key architect on arena renovations and sports training facilities. His commitment to making projects successful is showcased in his completed work that welcomes thousands of visitors each year.

When he reflects on his time at Generator, he can’t help but be proud of the growth of the office, from more sophisticated design work to a staff full of talent. Andrew’s favorite part of his job is opening the door to the office each morning and knowing that the Generator team is going to kick butt!

  • Senior Project Architect | Project Manager Angie Nygren
Senior Project Architect | Project Manager Angie Nygren

Angie built a 2-story treehouse in her backyard.

Angie has always loved art but found comfort in logic. For her, architecture was the sweet spot between art, math, and science. Born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Angie graduated with a Master’s in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Beyond her love for architecture, she has always been involved in athletics. Angie ran track & cross country at UWM, captaining both teams, and now coaches for Girls on the Run, a non-profit that inspires girls to build confidence through athletics programs. At home, she enjoys pitching baseballs to her two boys, cheering on her Packers, and any DIY house project she can get her hands on.

  • Project Designer Ben Wright
    Project Designer Ben Wright

Ben has lived in four different states, including Minnesota, Iowa, Pennsylvania, and now Missouri!

Ben has always had a passion for architecture and design while also taking an interest in fine art. He finds inspiration in the work of famous architects like Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, the surreal paintings of Joan Miró, and in listening to sports podcasts or his favorite Hip Hop music. His other art forms are coffee (big snob) and craft beer (likes to think he’s a snob). On weekends you can find Ben at the art museum or watching basketball or football games (Minnesota Vikings fanboy). Ben earned his Bachelor’s in Architecture from Iowa State University.

Architecture is the learned game, correct and magnificent, of forms assembled in the light. Le Corbusier
  • Architectural Associate Bethany Holden
  • Architectural Intern Cassidy Corby
    Architectural Intern Cassidy Corby

Cassidy holds the course record at her local golf course.

Cassidy is an Architectural Intern and a fourth-year architecture student at Kansas State University, with a fresh perspective from a semester spent in Italy. Joining the Generator team, she brings a passion for both residential and sports-related projects. As a child, Cassidy was fascinated by the way different spaces made her feel—chilly in gyms and museums, yet warm and cozy in places like dining rooms or greenhouses.

When she’s not sketching or brainstorming design ideas, you’ll probably find her teeing off on the golf course or snacking on a charcuterie board and enjoying a good movie. For a burst of creative inspiration, Cassidy turns to the How to Train Your Dragon soundtrack, before switching gears to rap and alternative pop.

Since joining Generator in 2020, he has been a trusted team member on a variety of commercial, hospitality, workplace, and venue projects. Through this experience, Christian takes his lessons and learnings from a variety of disciplines to create inventive design solutions.

In working with the Generator squad, he likes the equal parts analytics and creativity that people bring to the table on projects.
